Week 02
Type as structure
Optical alignment, baseline rhythm, and the difference between a typeface you chose and a typeface that is doing work.
TWO LIVE SESSIONS
ONE WRITTEN CRITIQUE
ABOUT SIX HOURS
Week 02
You do not choose a typeface. You choose what it has to survive.
(What you make)
A documented type scale and a written defence of one typeface over another.
What we cover
A typeface is a decision, not a preference. We cover how to read one before you use it: x-height against measure, apertures, how it behaves at small sizes, and what happens to it under real content.
The work
You build a type scale from constraints rather than from a modular ratio, then set the same page in two faces and argue for one.
